The Information Regulator (“Regulator”) has invited public and private bodies to submit their PAIA Annual Reports for the 2024/2025 financial year. This is in terms of the requirements under Sections 32 and 83(4) of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA). The submission window is from 1 April 2025 to 30 June 2025.
Who must submit the PAIA Annual Reports?
The following entities are required to submit PAIA Annual Reports:
- Public Bodies: The Information Officer (IO) of every public body must submit a report detailing access to information requests received and processed.
- Private Bodies: The Head of Private Bodies (HPBs) or Deputy Information Officers (DIOs) must also submit their reports on information requests received and processed.
How to submit the PAIA Annual Reports
The Information Regulator eServices Portal has been developed for a seamless submission process. Submission can be done via the eServices Portal which can be located on the Information Regulator website.
All reports must be submitted between 1 April 2025 and 30 June 2025. Organisations cannot submit reports unless IOs, HPBs, and DIOs are registered with the Regulator.
Organisations must familiarise themselves with the eServices portal in advance and ensure timely submission to avoid last-minute technical issues. Organisations are also encouraged to check that their IOs, HPBs and DIOs are registered with the Regulator ahead of the submission. The Information Regulator encourages all relevant bodies to comply fully with PAIA regulations.
