FSPs should take note of the updated levies applicable for the 2026/2027 levy cycle and ensure that payment is made by 30 November 2026. The final 2026 levy amounts were gazetted by National Treasury on 14 August 2026, replacing Schedule 2 to the Financial Sector and Deposit Insurance Levies Act 11 of 2022. The amended Schedule reflects an increase of 3.2% from last year’s 2025 FSCA levy amounts, which is lower than the 4% increase initially proposed for 2026. There has been no change to the percentage used to calculate the Schedule 3 Tribunal levy or to the Schedule 5 FAIS Ombud levy amounts. However, because the Tribunal levy is calculated with reference to the FSCA levy, the rand amount payable may increase where an FSP’s FSCA levy has increased.
Levy calculations
The financial sector levy payable by an FSP is calculated as the sum of the following components:
- FSCA levy (Schedule 2)
- Statutory Ombud Schemes (FAIS Ombud levy – Schedule 5)
- Tribunal levy (Schedule 3)
- Ombud Council levy (Schedule 4)
The Tables below set out the levy amounts and calculation methods applicable to the different categories of FSPs under the relevant Schedules to the Act.
