The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) recently issued a Press Release urging all financial customers to exercise vigilance and act with extreme caution when paying for purchases either in-store or online. There has been a rise in the number of alleged reported scams and fraudulent activities which has resulted in many financial customers losing money due to compromised private and confidential information.
Financial customers are reminded to adhere to the safety guidelines communicated by banks and financial institutions, for example, to never disclose confidential and personal information such as your Personal Identification Number (PIN). The FSCA also provides information on what a financial customer can do where the customer has been scammed or suspects a scam.
Furthermore, the Press Release includes what to do if a financial customer feels that it was treated unfairly by their bank, with the contact details of the Ombudsman for Banking Services (OBSSA).
