The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) recently published updated lists of recognised qualifications for FSPs, Key Individuals and Representatives in terms of FSCA FAIS Notice 61 of 2026. These updated lists replace those published in 2025.
The lists specify qualifications recognised for each FSP category (Categories I, II, IIA, III, and IV) and relevant product categories, including qualifications recognised for the transitional period. They also incorporate additional qualifications recognised by the FSCA since the previous publication.
In terms of Board Notice 194 of 2017 (Fit and Proper Requirements), FSPs, Key Individuals and Representatives must hold a qualification recognised by the FSCA, unless the qualification requirement does not apply.
Before submitting licensing or registration-related applications to the FSCA, FSPs and Key Individuals should check that their qualifications are recognised for the relevant categories. FSPs should also ensure that their Representatives hold the appropriate recognised qualifications for their roles.
Representatives under supervision or new entrants to the financial services industry should consult the updated lists before enrolling for a qualification. This will help ensure that the qualification they choose is recognised for their intended role and avoid unnecessary time and expense.
