In July 2020, the Information Regulator published draft guidelines on the registration of Information Officers. The consultation period has since been completed and the Information Regulator recently published the final version of the guidance note relating to the registration of Information Officers and Deputy Information Officers.
The Information Regulator is developing an online portal for the registration of Information Officers which is expected to be live by the end of April 2021. Accordingly, the registration of Information Officers and/or Deputy Information Officers is expected to commence on 1 May 2021.
As of 1 May 2021, responsible parties may also submit their applications for the registration of Information Officers and/or Deputy Information Officers, by manually completing the application form on this page and submitting it to the Information Regulator via email Registration.IO@inforegulator.org.za or post.
Responsible parties who have submitted their applications using the old forms are encouraged to reapply using the online platform to register Information Officers.
In order to speed up the registration process, responsible parties are encouraged to submit their applications for registration through the online registration portal.
