The FSCA recently published updated lists of recognised qualifications for FSPs, Key Individuals and Representatives (FSCA FAIS Notice 37 of 2025). The new lists replaces previous lists from 2021 and 2023.
The lists specify qualifications recognised for each category of FSP (Categories I, II, IIA, III, and IV) and product categories, including those for the transitional period.
In terms of Board Notice 194 of 2017 (Fit and Proper Requirements) – an FSP, Key Individual and Representative must have a qualification which has been recognised by the FSCA, unless the qualification requirement does not apply.
Before applying to the FSCA for licensing and registration related applications, FSPs and Key Individuals should check that their qualifications are recognised for their specific categories. Additionally, FSPs must ensure Representatives have the appropriate qualifications for their roles.
Representatives under supervision or new entrants to the industry should consult the lists to choose suitable qualifications before deciding which qualification to enrol in, to avoid unnecessary time and expense on a qualification that is not recognised.
