A media statement issued by the Ministry of Finance on 17 August 2021, announced that Ms Farzana Badat and Ms Katherine Gibson have been appointed as Deputy Commissioners of the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA). The appointment of Ms Badat and Ms Gibson are for a period of five years, effective from the dates of assumption of duty.
This follows on the appointment of Mr Unathi Kamlana as the Commissioner, and Ms Astrid Ludin as one of the Deputy Commissioners of the FSCA, who both assumed their duties on 1 June 2021.
Since the establishment of the FSCA on 1 April 2018, a Transitional Management Committee was appointed as an interim measure to perform the role of the FSCA Executive Committee. With the appointment of the Commissioner earlier this year and the three Deputy Commissioners, the Minister of Finance has, in terms of the Financial Sector Regulations, gazetted a notice to disestablish the Transitional Management Committee from 30 September 2021.
